Workshop Services

Critical support for haulage and logistics when it’s needed most

We are meticulous in keeping our equipment in a safe and legally compliant condition. We do not use third-party facilities; instead, we have a team of mechanics based on-site at our Gloucestershire workshop facility that maintains our fleet of vehicles and trailers to the highest standard.

We are able to conduct a range of vital checks and maintenance procedures, with a network of suppliers to draw upon to get the right parts at the right price, at the right time. With a proud heritage in haulage stretching back to the 1980s, we are fully prepared to meet changing client requirements.

Tachograph Calibration and Repair Centre

We are an approved Stoneridge commercial vehicle tachograph centre, situated just off Junction 9 of the M5 motorway. We provide a prompt service on all types of analogue and digital tachographs, with our own truckstop and café facilities available for you to use while you wait.

Our opening hours are 7am until 5pm Monday – Friday.

Our tachograph services are completed according to a flat, standard price; you will only need to pay for the work you need.

Our team can calibrate, perform yearly checks, and re-seal units. Contact us to discuss your requirements using the form and for any additional information.

MOT preparation, servicing, and inspections for HGVs

Our technicians are trained in carrying out diagnostic and fault identification checks prior to a HGV MOT. With our extensive knowledge, we can pinpont potential failures before the vehicle undergoes its MOT, reducing the likelihood of it having to come off the road entirely.

We work with a host of different sized operators, on multiple vehicles, with our dedicated team of technicians taking pride in being transparent in their work. We also strive to keep updated with the latest in vehicle technology, ensuring that we keep up with innovations while still following the same ethos of providing a personal approach that our company is built upon.

Give us a call to discuss your MOT preparation requirements.

    Vehicle repairs and maintenance on-site

We bring decades of expertise in HGV maintenance and repairs, with our own fleet consisting of mainly Volvo and Scania vehicles. Thanks to our nationwide network, we are able to source any specific parts efficiently and keeping delay to a minimum.

We have capacity to work on as much as six vehicles at any one time, with our facility continuously being updated to add more capabilities as the need for them arises. Some of our more recent innovations include the installation of a public weighbridge at our Toddington wastewater treatment site, five miles away, which allows for vehicles carrying non-hazardous materials to check their weights, and a rolling road to check brake condition.

    FAQs

How often does a tachograph need calibrating?

A digital tachograph is required to be calibrated every two years. An analogue tachograph needs calibrating every two years and at the six year point. We are able to carry out calibration for both digital and analogue tachographs

When do I need to schedule a truck/trailer MOT?

Annually. HGV vehicles & trailers are required to have an MOT preparation prior to the test which is on average three days’ labour per vehicle/trailer.

Do you complete the MOT test on site?

We do not complete the MOT test on site as we do not have an approved MOT test lane. We take the vehicles/trailers to a 3rd party approved MOT test lane for the MOT test, however we do complete all the preparations required for a HGV vehicle/trailer MOT test here at William Gilder.
